Our Former Siberian Breeding Cats and Founders
Who are the former breeding cats of the Chatterie de Nice?
Our former Siberian breeding cats and founding cats came to us over the years from different parts of the world. With different colours, types and bloodlines, they were brought together little by little, with patience, to build the generations that make up our cattery today.
All our breeding cats have a pedigree, whether they were born at the Chatterie de Nice or came from Russia, Poland, the Czech Republic or Italy. Blue eyes or classic eyes, white or traditional coat: every cat has its pedigree, passed down from generation to generation.
Each of them brought something special: a colour, a look, a size, a temperament, a particular quality that we still find today in their offspring, our kittens and the following generations.
Once they became our breeding cats, they contributed to the development and diversity of our Siberian lines before leaving breeding, when the time came, for a well-deserved retirement.
They are no longer our breeding cats, but their legacy lives on in their offspring, in our kittens and in the generations that follow.

UMI Chatterie de Nice, a rare coat: black silver shaded

Among our former breeding queens, UMI had a coat that is rare in the Siberian cat: black silver shaded. Her undercoat is silvery white and only the tip of the hair is black, which gives her fur its bright, shaded look.
This colour is part of the lines she passed on to the Chatterie de Nice.
Which lines did our former breeding cats pass on?
Our former breeding cats and founding cats represented very different lines. Some passed on natural blue eyes, others large Siberian cats weighing up to about 8 kg. Some lines stood out for their solid colours, others for white, odd eyes, Tortie, Silver or Shaded coats, or beautiful Golden shades.
This diversity of colours, sizes and traits is part of the history of our lines. We still find their legacy today in their offspring, our kittens and the following generations.
Where do the descendants of our former breeding cats live today?
Over the years, some of our breeding cats have contributed to the development of other catteries in France and abroad.
Our cattery is located in France, in Nice on the Côte d’Azur, near Monaco, and works with breeding projects across Europe.
Among them:
- Pamela de la Chatterie de Nice — joined the L’Envol Sibérien cattery.
- Finist URALIAN GEMS — a very large Siberian male, joined the Magic Chamane’s cattery.
- Pavel de la Chatterie de Nice – Coccole & Fusa Siberian Cattery (Italy)
Thanks to this selection work, traditional blue-eyed lines have been preserved and passed on across several countries.
Today their descendants live in France, Europe, Russia, Japan, Canada, Sweden, Libya, Slovakia, Italy and other parts of the world.
What happens to our breeding cats when they retire?
At the end of their breeding life, our cats join calm families in France and abroad. Platon now lives in Switzerland, Uilly in Canada, Aster with a Japanese family, and the others in different regions of France.
Over the years, the Chatterie de Nice has kept the memory of each of them: their names, photos and pedigrees remain here, because their lines live on in our kittens.
What remains of our former breeding cats in our kittens?
These photographs are not stock images: they show our own cats, the ones who truly lived with us and each, in their own way, took part in the history of our cattery.
Over the generations, each of them left something of themselves: a look, an expression, a silhouette, a temperament, a colour or a particular trait that we can sometimes still recognise today in their descendants.
Their life as breeding cats is over, but their story continues in their offspring, our kittens and the following generations.
For us, they are not a list of former breeding cats. They shared our daily life, built part of the history of the Chatterie de Nice and each of them keeps a special place in our hearts.
